We spent two tiring, and emotional days in McConnellsburg sifting through memories of Lee's parent's last 30 years there. There was a lifetime of possessions that made the house a home, but the occupants were missing. It felt eery and weird. We shed lots of tears as we walked out the door for the last time, but the memories and mementos that we took from the house will be with us for at least our lifetime.

Movin' On
After lots of thought, we have decided to put our lake house on the market. We fell in love with this spot 11 years ago and have had lots of great memories here. But, at this stage in our lives, we have decided that the lot is too small and the time and expense of maintaining a second home is too much. We love the house that we rebuilt here and hopefully some family will love it also. But.... it's time to move on.

After Irene
Irene was down graded to a tropical storm by the time she reached MA. We had lots of rain and wind, though, and lost power from Sunday to Tuesday. Some places here are still without power and lots faired much worse than us. Monday I took to raking and cleaning up and Lee had to try three different ways to get to work. A tree came down at the end of our road and two neighbors cut it up and tractored it down to our woodshed. The generator was a godsend and we all helped neighbors who were without one. I hope the east coast isn't the path for the next hurricane. The season has just begun!!

Waiting for Irene
We've picked all the ripe veggies from our garden, secured most of the agility equipment and set up the generator. Also, filled the camper water tank and charged up the battery. We'll have a gas stove and extra water if we need it. I think we're as ready as possible. Who would have guessed that MA would experience tornadoes in June and an earthquake and hurricane in August. Weird....

Thank you for all our Monday morning phone conversations thru the years
Thank you for always supporting and encouraging me in all my activities
So glad we were able to have a birthday lunch and spend the day together.
