Kindermusik with Lily

December 7, 2006

Lily takes a cool class every Thursday called Kindermusik. I was invited to go along an participate in all the activities. I was one of two "Grammies" who were visiting that day. We had a good time playing our sticks and bells to different songs. Lily is one of the youngest participants and has a hard time sitting still. She likes to take laps around the room. The favorite activity of the morning seemed to be putting away the sticks and bells when they were asked to be collected by the teacher. It was a fun hour...

After musik, we drove to Jeff's base and had lunch at Subway. Then we shopped at a few stores and I bought some wine (much cheaper than in the states) to take back with us.

We finished the day at La Piazza. the italian restaurant around the corner from Jeff's house. We enjoyed some good wine, great italian food and the best part was the Limoncello (a liquer that takes like lemon squares). We walked back to Jeff's and played a round of euchre (cards) and started planning our trip to Tuscany, Italy next spring.

It was a great trip and we look forward to Jeff, Irene and Lily coming to the states in February.

December in Germany

We arrived in Germany on Monday morning after flying all night from Boston. Irene and Lily picked me up at the Stuttgart airport and Lee went directly to work. After a shower and a change of clothes, I felt halfway human again. We had a nice dinner with everyone and Irene and I set out for a night of "Bunco" with her group of girlfriends. I had never played before, but caught on quickly and ended up with the third highest score :) We didn't get home 'til after 11PM which was a little difficult since I only got a couple of hours of sleep on the plane the night before.
Tuesday, we (Jeff, Irene, Lily and me) took a trip to the Stuttgart Christmas Market. It was fun to see all the vendors and sample some of the local food which was bratwurst and pommes (german french fries) and crepes and chocolate covered strawberries on a stick. It was a nice day and we walked around for hours. We came home and enjoyed a birthday dinner of Lemon Herb Chicken Ring and a Chocolate Cake. Then a rousing game of Euchre before we went to bed.
Wednesday was a rainy day and we just had a really relaxing day at home. I don't get many of those. I enjoyed coloring and playing with toys with Lily until nap time after lunch. Then, Jeff and I groomed Kastor, who was become second cousin to the "Shaggy Dog". He looks much more like an Aussie now. Irene and I worked on setting up this blog site until bedtime.....
