Cooked delicious waffles for breakfast
Went to the dump and mailed some letters
Installed a new ceiling fan in the family room
Played a three hour gig
Entertained guys from France, China and Japan
Installed three new lighting fixtures in our bathroom
Cut broken trees and branches and piled brush until dark
... A well deserved nap....

Nor'easter 2011

Snow before Halloween??? We've had it before but nothing like this in my memory!! The heavy wet snow clung to every leaf and caused tons of devastation.... broken trees, and downed wired everywhere. Our power, cable, phone and internet went out on Saturday around 6PM and didn't return until Thursday around 1PM. We had ordered a new and bigger generator in September that had been back ordered because of Irene. It finally was able to be picked up on Wednesday, but we never got a chance to use it. We limped along with our smaller one that we had to retrieve in Scarborough.

The snow is almost gone now and we are trying to return to some semblance of normalcy. The clean up of our yard and the road will take a while, so we're praying for a stretch of good weather and... NO MORE SNOW!!!

It's HERE!!

It poured rain all day yesterday and this is what we woke up to this morning.... and 3-6 more inches tomorrow! The leaves are still on the trees and it doesn't give us a good feeling that our old generator is gone and our new one hasn't been delivered yet!! Hopefully we won't lose power.

Happy Anniversary

Flowers, a glass of wine and a delicious dinner. So happy that I got to spend 38 years married to my best friend!!

Wood

Planned this weekend to get our wood under cover. It was all cut and stacked in the woods... just needed to be split and stacked in the shed. The weather was rainy and drizzly, but the job needed to get done 'cause the next three weekends were spoken for. Saturday was a productive day and we were able to get four trailer loads of wood done. Sunday was a different story.... We started splitting only to discover that this pile of wood was loaded with ants. Took lots of time to get rid of them, but we got that load in the shed. Went back out to move the splitter and Lee felt a sting. Yellow jackets were swarming out of a hole beside one of our piles. Lee doused it with spray and we started working in another place. He moved the tractor and flew off the seat. More bees were attacking the tractor. He couldn't get back on and it was still running. We regrouped and took a trip to Lowe's. After $52 worth of foggers, and sprays and lots of protective clothing, we won the war against the bees. We moved the tractor, stacked the rest of the wood and called it a day. Luckily there was only one sting!! Lesson learned... don't disturb wood piles in the fall.

West Branch Pond 2011

After the hectic and emotional beginning to our month, we took time at the end to enjoy our favorite vacation spot. No matter how many years we have visited this place, it amazes us every time. No TV, computer, cell phone reception, and only generated power in the morning and evening. We take our favorite walks and hikes, fish, read, play games and eat delicious home cooked meals. It's true relaxation for the body, mind and soul. I'm sure we'll be back again next year :)

Saying Good-bye...

We spent two tiring, and emotional days in McConnellsburg sifting through memories of Lee's parent's last 30 years there. There was a lifetime of possessions that made the house a home, but the occupants were missing. It felt eery and weird. We shed lots of tears as we walked out the door for the last time, but the memories and mementos that we took from the house will be with us for at least our lifetime.
