OUCH!!
Second snowstorm this week... at least this one is light and fluffy. We're supposed to leave for Maine later on, but first we need to plow more snow. Oh well... a few more calories burned. The bad thing is that it's really hard for the dogs to walk... especially with the layer of ice on top of the deep snow that we already have which is not really thick enough to hold their weight. The snowshoeing has been difficult because I've been breaking thru ice. Maybe this snow will pack on top of everything and be a better surface. If this keeps up we'll be digging tunnels :)

Ice, Ice...Baby
Yesterday... 7 inches of snow... then it started to rain and drizzle. Lee's in Germany and plowing and shoveling started around noon and I finally came in at 2:30 because I was soaked and freezing. I felt like an icicle. Helped Shawn do part of her driveway as her snow blower is in the shop and she was shoveling. Went back out around 4 to shovel around the dog door and a path to the woods for the dogs. They can't even walk in the stuff because there is a crust of ice that they break thru. Luckily the drizzle stopped in time so that the ice on all the trees didn't do any damage and we didn't lose power.
Going out this morning to pack some paths for the dogs with my snowshoes. Hopefully the sun will melt it all in the next couple of days. More snow on the way for Friday... Yikes!!!

Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland
What a beautiful morning... sun shining, sky bright blue. Dogs were whining to go out and play, so off we went down the trail with them bounding ahead. Soon, though, I was in the lead... too much work for them to cut the trail in the deep snow. So there we were me, followed by a pack of 4 dogs all in a line trailing behind. After about two miles... downhill on the way out, but uphill on the way back... my legs had had enough for today. We'll pack more trail tomorrow. What a workout!!!
Winter Wonderland
We had a "real" snow day yesterday. Bose was closed, my agility class was cancelled and we just stayed home and watched the snow fly. That is... until we had to go move about 18-20 inches of the stuff. Boy... my aching back. It sure does look pretty, crisp and white. I'll don my snowshoes today and venture out with the dogs to pack a path in the woods. Yesterday they had to leap like rabbits to get anywhere. Stay tuned....

Holidays 2010
We had a great holiday week in Maine again this year. We are so grateful that we got to spend time with family and friends.... eat good food, play games, hear some great music and sit by a roaring fire and watch the snow fall. We took some long walks with the dogs and even got to do some trail walking on our snowshoes after the storm. It was truly a relaxing vacation!!

Holiday Brunch 2010
Mike and Michelle graciously opened their house to our second annual holiday brunch. They hosted 4 generations... 11 adults and 8 kids ages 1-8. It was a chance to get caught up with every one's lives and for all the cousins to play. Everyone contributed some food and everything was delicious. We had eggs, ham, waffles, potatoes, muffins, fruit and lots of sweets for dessert. We celebrated 5 December birthdays... what a busy time of year! Thank you to everyone who traveled to make this an extra special family day and birthday for me.
One of my favorite scenes of the day was when Breanna crawled up into my Dad's lap and sat with him. She doesn't usually like crowds or noise, so I'm sure his lap looked like a nice quiet place to be.
My favorite quote was from Lucas when the kids were playing with the Schnauzers....
Trevor: I like Toby
Lucas: Yeah, I like the other Toby, too. (aka Lacey)
Out of the mouths of babes!!
