High Goal Agility

This weekend we competed in an agility trial in Greenwich, NY at High Goal Farm. It was held in a huge building that was built for the sole purpose of agility practice, classes and trials.... very nice venue. We stayed in a little "pet friendly" motel with 10 rooms that was occupied solely with people at the trial and their dogs. Tucker had the most success with the most qualifying runs for the weekend. Denver had a couple of nice qualifying jumpers runs. It was Ike's first real competition trial in Novice and he had two qualifying runs... we still have work to do, though, to keep his head in the game. But, I was happy with his first endeavor.
Sunday we met a girl from the NY rescue group with a 8 month old puppy that we were helping transport to my friend Lisa who does rescue in Maine . He had a rough start to life being purchased at a pet store by a women for her autistic son. The child really pummeled this puppy so he was placed with another family. They had kids and the dog became understandably wary of the kids so he is going into rescue to be fostered for a while to work thru his issues. He stayed here overnight on Sunday and seemed to get along with most everyone except Kyra (which is not a surprise). I drove him to Portsmouth yesterday afternoon to meet Lisa who drove down from Lewiston. It's so sad when people buy cute puppies from pet store without researching the breed and then bail on them when they don't work out. But, hopefully, this little guy will get a second chance and a "forever home".

Skiing

Last weekend we had the chance to go skiing with our grandkids. As Cindy put it "How many kids get a chance to ski with their grandparents?" We hadn't been on skis in years, but we all bought tickets to the West Side of Mt Abram and all of us had a great time. We rode the chair lift and didn't wait in any lines... unbelievable for a Saturday. Trevor is doing a great job with his turns and Lucas is hooked up to a harness so he can ski the "double black diamond" runs. Hopefully we can do it again!!

Movin Snow

It's really sad that most of my posts this year have been about the weather. But, we've really been a slave to it this winter... so many storms. This weekend we need to move the banks by our deck. They are so high... almost as high as the deck itself. Warmer temps are coming today along with a mixed bag of snow, ice and rain. If we get any abrupt melting our basement will be underwater. So goes the battle :)

February 1, 2011

Weekend chores... raking the snow off the roof, bringing in wood... because today... here we go again!! Started snowing this morning around 6:30 and it's going to continue 'til Thursday morning. Gives new meaning to the phrase "snow fatigue". Stocked up on groceries early this morning as I'm not going anywhere for a few days. Lots of make up agility classes so far and all the school systems here are maxed out for snow days. Oh well... winter in New England!!!
