Friday afternoon we took off in the camper for the fairgrounds in Westfield, MA for our annual New England Aussie Club Colors of Summer show and agility trial. When we got there lots of campsites were already taken because of a BMX bike race which was taking up 1/2 of the fairgrounds. I think we got the last campsite with electric and water. We didn't pay much attention to the little puddle in one part of the site because we had had so much rain the week before. It was supposed to be a beautiful weekend, though.
Saturday was a nice day. Lots of running back and forth between events, but we managed just fine to do both showing and agility. Saturday afternoon we played a couple of games of "cornhole"... (see cornhole.com) walked dogs and hung with friends. Someone had said that they heard something about more rain on Saturday night .... NO... couldn't be more rain... it was supposed to be nice!!!! Anyway we decided to take down our awning and EZ-up canopy just in case. Well.... a picture is worth a thousand words. We woke up on Sunday morning to "lake front property". Lee had to walk thru ankle deep water to get to the Suburban and our friends who were camped behind us lost their entire awning!! The rain did let up, but agility was a "mud bowl" and I needed to clean the dogs for the show. Not too much fun yesterday although the sun did peak out for a while. Kyra is injured... maybe her shoulder or her elbow... so we were down to splitting runs with Denver by the end of the day.
Kyra is going to the vet on Thursday and we may skip part of the trial in Maine this weekend. After that we are taking the summer off from agility to let everyone heal (me included). We have one more event in July that is just "showing" that we'll do because it is so much fun. Then the rest of our summer (except for Lee's gigs) will be completely unscheduled. We're looking forward to gettin off the road, taking some R&R at the lake and just hanging out and doing little projects.
Anyone think that's possible????
