We took Friday off and drove to PA to celebrate Pop Pop's 87th birthday. Jeff and Irene and the girls arrived on Thursday night after sitting in lots of traffic in DC. It rained the entire trip down to McConnellsburg which was not conducive to lots of stopping. I did some stretching and took my exercise band in the car to keep my shoulder mobile. It did ache on Friday and Saturday, but maybe that was because we didn't put enough air in the aerobed on Friday night. Irene had a banana bread made when we got there and we had the usual Sloppy Joe's for dinner. It was great to see Jeff again after so many months of his deployment.
Saturday was a full day. We walked dogs (the number of dogs and people were equal...7), played outside with sidewalk chalk and balls (sorry about the Dora ball, Lily), and had tractor rides in the morning. The afternoon was spent at the restaurant visiting with Pop Pop's friends, care givers and Mark and Ken. Late afternoon was a dog bath for Maxine followed by groomings for her and Kastor while the girls played in a little blow up pool that Irene had brought.
Both evenings we played rousing games of "Hearts" and just laughed and talked.
Sunday after breakfast we packed up again and both started home. We followed our GPS right thru NY city and over the GW Bridge. The traffic was horrendous!!! I don't think we'll ever go that way again even if it is shorter (NOT). We couldn't wait to get home and spent most of last week trying to recover some sleep. All things considered... it was a great visit.
